A Brief History of StrollingShuttereyes...

My interest in photography began over 25 years ago using my father’s Minolta 35mm SLR.  Since then it’s been an on-again, off-again endeavor to create a decent picture every once-in-a-while.  From analog to digital, Illford to Kodak, B&W to color, and everything in between I’ve produced some glorious failures and enjoyed them all.  But every once in a great while the stars align, almost.  For me, I’m fortunate to find one that’s mildly captivating after a few of dozen.   Think of me as merely as an enthusiastic amateur who is giving it his best shot.

Like Atget [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugène_Atget], I side on being more of a purest.  That is, you won’t find me grinding a picture through computer programs like Photoshop or Aperture.  Between my professional life and personal life, plus not having much artistic inclination, I am extremely lazy in this respect and reserve manipulations to the bare minimum.  That does not mean I do not admire Adams [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ansel_Adams] and his approach to taking a beautiful photograph and elevating it to a whole new universe employing a whole galaxy of techniques.  It is just my conviction to practice photography in an unhurried, simplistic manner.  If I’m lucky to spot an interesting subject as I stroll about, I will attempt to photograph it—either it will work out or it wont.

The subject matter that appeals to me most is primarily Nature.  Rarely, if ever, will I photograph folks.  The reason being is since I do not photograph well, I probably won’t be able to photograph other people well either. However much like the human form, Nature is ever changing and dynamic that presents numerous photographic challenges—to the initiated.   For people like me, it’s just fun to see what you can capture at just the right moment...

Thank you for checking out my little ol' blog and enjoy the pictures.
