In Search of Hidden Falls

"In a darken wood"

In a darkened wood I wandered to and fro
Not knowing where I shall go.

The sky and boughs encroached upon me;
Neither sound to be heard, nor movement could I see.

My face grew pale, my hands turned cold, sweat formed my furrowed brow
Chest pounding; horrible thoughts I would not allow.

You filled my arms smiling and giggling, now vanished the moment I turned around.

Another minute, then five more the deadened silence was the woods reply
I called your name, quiet as a tomb as I stand by.

I yelled your name! Rooted to the ground while scanning the greenwood for a clue
Silence greets me once again, and in my mind the last ten minutes I review.

Mouth completely dry with ringing in my ears, the forest appears to spin
Control is regained when softly in the distance rustling is heard above my inner din.

Swiftly my legs take flight in the direction of the sound
In an instant I’ve cleared a quarter of a mile, where a tumult abounds.

Stopped in my tracks, I spot your smiling, giggling face among the throng
Nonchalantly I walk up to hold your hand as if nothing was wrong.

There we stand hand-in-hand appreciating the view:
A beautiful sunset waterfall within the dale that gives my life anew.
